Joining Sue Young
Cancer Support

We’re excited to announce that SCTE is joining with Sue Young Cancer Support to widen its services and help more cancer patients across Leicestershire and Rutland achieve better physical health. The ‘In the Pink’ breast cancer rehabilitation program will continue, but our team will now also be working with other cancer survivors to improve their physical health and fitness after treatment.

We’re delighted to extend the services we offer and join with an established name like Sue Young, which offers counseling and alternative therapies, as well as outreach support groups around the county (currently on hold due to Covid). Listen in to the Ben Jackson show on BBC Radio Leicester this morning to find out more!

Here we revisit In The Pink, who received a £5985 grant from the Mercia Park Community Fund which went toward delivering a free eight-week Breast Cancer Rehabilitation programme. We caught up with Michelle to find out how the funding has helped with the delivery of such a much needed programme.

Mission Statement

“Our mission is to empower people to help themselves, by actively promoting self-help, mutual support and equal access to all cancer and care service in our locality Leicestershire and Rutland.

We offer impartial and confidential guidance, practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer; to those diagnosed, their family members and carers. We also provide an opportunity to have views and concerns heard about cancer services in our area and will consider how else we can better our services to cater for those service users who require them”

Sue Young Cancer Support provides cancer support for all, practical and emotional to local cancer patients from the time a diagnosis is made. The diagnosis has a huge impact on family members and carers too, so this is why Sue Young Cancer Support extends support in all services to family members and carers, providing a lifeline during a time of emotional and physical upheaval for all those affected by such a diagnosis.
